So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 We issued this command to him, for they were going to be destroyed in the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
