When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 surely in this there is a sign for those who believe. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We took vengeance on them. And verily both are on a high-road open. 79
