When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We communicated to him the decree that by the morning those people will be totally destroyed. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Behold! in this is a sign for those who believed. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
