And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 and We turned it uppermost nethermost and rained on it stones of baked clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
