When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown." 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 Thus did We turn it upside down, and rained down upon them stones of what had been decreed. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 for, behold, those [towns] stood by a road that still exists. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
