So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 he said to them: 'I do not know you' 62 They said: nay! we have come to thee with that whereof they have been dubitating. 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 And guard against (the punishment of) Allah and do not put me to shame. 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 Lot exclaimed in exasperation: "If you are bent on doing something, then here are my daughters." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 Therefore the scream overcame them at sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 AND THE DWELLERS of the wooded dales [of Madyan, too,] were inveterate evildoers, 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
