And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Surely you are an unknown people. 62 They said, 'Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting. 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 We communicated to him Our decree that the guilty ones would be destroyed by the morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said: verily these are my guests, so disgrace me not. 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 By your life, they wandered on in their wild intoxication 72 So they were seized by the mighty blast at break of day; 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 The place (where this occurred) lies along a known route. 76 Most surely there is a sign in this for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 and so We inflicted Our retribution on them. And behold, both these [sinful communities] lived by a highway, [to this day] plain to see 79
