When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 He said: Surely these are my guests, therefore do not disgrace me, 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said: "Did we not forbid thee (to speak) for all and sundry?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 We turned the town upside-down and showered on them lumps of baked clay. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
