When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 “And we have brought to you a true command, and indeed we are truthful.” 64 So set forth, thou with thy family, in a watch of the night, and follow after the backs of them, and let not any one of you turn round; and depart unto the place you are commanded.' 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 rushed towards the house of Lot. Lot said to them, "These are my guests. Do not disgrace me. 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Surely in that are signs for such as mark; 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
