And when the envoys came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said: "Nay, we have brought to you that concerning which they have been in doubt. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They answered: "Have we not forbidden thee [to offer protection] to any kind of people?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
