So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said: "Verily! You are people unknown to me." 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Surely in this are signs for those who examine. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the Companions of the Wood were also wrong-doers; 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
