So when the apostles came to Lut's followers, 61 he said: "Behold, you are people unknown [here]!" 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 And fear Allah, and humiliate me not. 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 And We utterly confounded them, and We rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 And the (cities were) right on the high-road. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
