So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 "And we have brought to you the truth (the news of the destruction of your nation) and certainly, we tell the truth. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 The people of the town came along, revelling, 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 [Lout (Lot)] said: "These (the girls of the nation) are my daughters (to marry lawfully), if you must act (so)." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Indeed in that are signs for those who discern. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
