Then when the sent ones entered unto the household of Lut. 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said: Nay, but we bring thee that concerning which they keep disputing, 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 "Then travel in a part of the night with your family, and you go behind them in the rear, and let no one amongst you look back, but go on to where you are ordered." 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 The inhabitants of the city came in (mad) joy (at news of the young men). 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said, 'These are my daughters, if you would be doing.' 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We turned (the cities) upside down, and rained down on them brimstones hard as baked clay. 74 Lo! therein verily are portents for those who read the signs. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 So We took vengeance on them. Both are still there on the highway, plain for all to see. 79
