And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said: "Yea, we have come to thee to accomplish that of which they doubt. 63 We have come to you for a genuine purpose and We are true in what we say. 64 Leave the town with your family sometime during the night. Walk behind them and let no one turn around. Proceed as you are commanded." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 He said: 'These are my guests; do not shame me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said; Have we not forbidden you from (entertaining) anyone? 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 it is still there on the highway -- 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 And the dwellers of the wood surely were wrong-doers. 78 So we took vengeance on them; and lo! they both are on a high-road plain to see. 79
