When the Messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 Therefore go forth with your followers in a part of the night and yourself follow their rear, and let not any one of you turn round, and go forth whither you are commanded. 65 And We decreed unto him this commandment because the last of those was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 and fear God, and do not degrade me.' 69 They said, 'Have we not forbidden thee all beings?' 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Indeed in this are signs for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We inflicted retribution on them, and they are both, indeed, on an open road (still) pursued. 79
