When the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 He said: "You are people I do not know." 62 They answered: "Nay, but we have come unto thee with [the announcement of] something that they [who are given to evil] have always been wont to call in question, 63 and we are bringing thee the certainty [of its fulfilment]: for, behold, we are speaking the truth indeed. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came, rejoicing at the news (of new arrivals). 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said, "Did we not forbid you to extend hospitality to strangers?" 70 He said, "Here are my daughters, if you must act in this way." 71 Verily by your life they were utterly confused in their (lustful) drunkenness. 72 and thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at sunrise. 73 And We turned the township upside down and rained upon them stones of heated clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 surely it is on a way yet remaining; 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 So, We took vengeance on them. They are both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
