At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 "We have brought to thee that which is inevitably due, and assuredly we tell the truth. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 The people of the city came to him rejoicing. 67 He said: Lo! they are my guests. Affront me not! 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 There are great Signs in this for those endowed with intelligence. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 And the people of Aykah were also wrong-doers. 78 So We exacted retribution from them. They were both on an open highway, plain to see. 79
