Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 He said, “You are an unfamiliar people.” 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 And fear Allah and do not disgrace me." 69 They said: Have we not forbidden you from (other) people? 70 Lot said, "These are my daughters if you want them." 71 [But the angels spoke thus:] "As thou livest, [O Lot, they will not listen to thee:] behold, in their delirium [of lust] they are but blindly stumbling to and fro!" 72 Then the mighty Blast caught them at sunrise, 73 And We turned (the towns of Sodom in Palestine) upside down and rained down on them stones of baked clay. 74 Verily therein are signs for men of sagacity. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Verily, herein lies a message indeed for all who believe [in God]. 77 Since the People of the Forest were unjust, 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
