When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: verily ye are a people stranger. 62 They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting. 63 "Yet we bring to you the truth, and we are truthful. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 We informed him that the unbelievers would be utterly destroyed. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 "But fear Allah, and shame me not." 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]." 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 and the Cry seized them at the sunrise, 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 Verily in that is a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Thicket were harmdoers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
