You are people unknown to me." 62 They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing, 63 We truly tell you that we have brought to you the Truth. 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 And there came the people of the city rejoicing 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 “And fear Allah and do not disgrace me.” 69 They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 By your life! In their drunkenness they were truly blind. 72 And thereupon the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at the time of sunrise, 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Surely, in that there are signs for those who contemplate. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
