The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 We also gave them Our Signs, yet they turned away from them. 81 They would carve secure houses out of the mountains. 82 and the Cry seized them in the morning; 83 Then availed them not that which they had been earning. 84 We have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between the two in accordance with the requirements of truth and wisdom. The Hour is surely coming. So overlook [their faults] with gracious forgiveness. 85 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-creator, the All-knowing. 86 And indeed We have given you seven verses that are repeated, and the great Qur’an. 87 [so] turn, not thine eyes [longingly] towards the worldly benefits which We have granted unto some of those [that deny the truth]. And neither grieve over those [who refuse to heed thee,] but spread the wings of thy tenderness over the believers, 88 Say, "Indeed, I am simply one who warns." 89 Such as We send down for those who make division, 90 [and] who [now] declare this Qur'an to be [a tissue of] falsehoods! 91 By your Lord We shall question them one and all 92 concerning that they were doing. 93 Therefore declare openly what you are bidden and turn aside from the polytheists. 94 For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff,- 95 Those who set up another god with Allah; so they shall soon know. 96 Indeed, We know your chest is straitened by that they say. 97 but extol thou thy Sustainer's limitless glory and praise Him, and be of those who prostrate themselves [before Him] in adoration, 98 And go on worshipping your Lord till the certainty (of death) comes upon you. 99
