AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 for We did vouchsafe them Our messages, but they obstinately turned their backs upon them 81 And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure. 82 But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning, 83 and that which they had earned did not help them. 84 We have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between the two in accordance with the requirements of truth and wisdom. The Hour is surely coming. So overlook [their faults] with gracious forgiveness. 85 Indeed your Lord only is the Great Creator, the All Knowing. 86 And assuredly We have vouchsafed unto thee seven of the repetitions and the mighty Qur'an. 87 Strain not thine eyes. (Wistfully) at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them, nor grieve over them: but lower thy wing (in gentleness) to the believers. 88 and say, "I am, indeed, a plain warner," 89 such as We send down for those who are divisive, 90 [and] who [now] declare this Qur'an to be [a tissue of] falsehoods! 91 By your Lord, We will question them all 92 For all their deeds. 93 Promulgate thou that which thou art commanded, and turn away from the associaters. 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 those who set up another deity alongside Allah. They shall soon come to know. 96 And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say. 97 But hymn the praise of thy Lord, and be of those who make prostration (unto Him). 98 Worship your Lord till the certainty (death) comes to you. 99
