Surely the people of al-Hijr also rejected the Messengers, calling them liars. 80 We sent them Our Signs, but they persisted in turning away from them. 81 And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure. 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 Therefore their earnings did not in the least benefit them. 84 We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness. 85 Your Lord is the Creator, the Knower. 86 And assuredly We have vouchsafed unto thee seven of the repetitions and the mighty Qur'an. 87 So covet not things We have bestowed on a portion of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and protect those who believe; 88 And say: "I am indeed he that warneth openly and without ambiguity,"- 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 those who had split up their Qur'an into pieces. 91 Therefore, by the Lord, We will, of a surety, call them to account, 92 concerning what they have been doing. 93 (O Prophet), proclaim what you are commanded, and pay no heed to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity. 94 Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers 95 Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know. 96 We certainly know that their statements sorely grieve you. 97 But hymn the praise of thy Lord, and be of those who make prostration (unto Him). 98 And worship thy Lord until there cometh unto thee the certainty. 99
