AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 We brought them signs, but they turned away. 81 And they were hewing out houses from mountains feeling secure. 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 And all that they had done (for security) availed them nothing. 84 We have created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, for a genuine purpose. The Day of Judgment will certainly approach, so (Muhammad) forgive them graciously. 85 verily, thy Sustainer is the all-knowing Creator of all things! 86 And certainly We have given you seven of the oft-repeated (verses) and the grand Quran. 87 Look not with your eyes ambitiously at what We have bestowed on certain classes of them (the disbelievers), nor grieve over them. And lower your wings for the believers (be courteous to the fellow-believers). 88 Say, "Indeed, I am simply one who warns." 89 [For, thou art the bearer of a divine writ] such as We have bestowed from on high upon those who [afterwards] broke it up into parts, 90 Those who broke the Word of Allah into several parts. (Those who broke the Torah / Bible or changed its text – or those who called the Qur’an a fabrication / poetry.) 91 So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all, 92 For all that they used to do. 93 Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists. 94 verily, We shall suffice thee against all who [now] deride [this message - all] 95 those who set up another deity alongside Allah. They shall soon come to know. 96 And assuredly We know that thou straitenest thy breast by that which they say. 97 Proclaim thy Lord's praise, and be of those that bow, 98 And keep worshipping your Lord, till death* comes to you. (* The certainty.) 99
