▼ 15 The Hijjr Valley
Al-Hijjr 6 of 6
AND, [likewise,] indeed, the people of Al-Hijr gave the lie to [Our] message-bearers: 80 We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them. 81 And they used to hew out dwellings from the hills, (wherein they dwelt) secure. 82 But the Shout seized them in the morning, 83 And of no avail to them was all that they did (with such art and care)! 84 We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is between them save with truth, and lo! the Hour is surely coming. So forgive, (O Muhammad), with a gracious forgiveness. 85 Your Lord is indeed the Creator of all, the All-Knowing. 86 We have indeed bestowed on you the seven oft-repeated verses and the Great Qur'an. 87 Do not strain your eyes towards the worldly benefits We have bestowed on some of them, nor grieve on their account. Lower your wing of mercy for the believers 88 and say: "Behold, I am indeed the plain warner [promised by God]! 89 Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators 90 and who have broken the Scripture into fragments -- 91 so by your Lord, We will question them all 92 As to what they did. 93 Proclaim then, what you are commanded and turn away from the unbelievers. 94 For sufficient are We unto thee against those who scoff,- 95 Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know. 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration. 98 and worship thy Sustainer till death comes to thee. 99
True are the words of God the Almighty.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
