The dwellers in El-Hijr cried lies to the Envoys. 80 We brought them signs, but they turned away. 81 They used to hew dwellings in the mountains to live in security. 82 Then the shout took hold of them in the early morn. 83 All that they had acquired was of no avail to them. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 Indeed your Lord only is the Great Creator, the All Knowing. 86 We have given thee seven of the oft-repeated, and the mighty Koran. 87 [so] turn, not thine eyes [longingly] towards the worldly benefits which We have granted unto some of those [that deny the truth]. And neither grieve over those [who refuse to heed thee,] but spread the wings of thy tenderness over the believers, 88 And say: 'I am the plain warner' 89 Like as We sent down on the dividers 90 And severed their Scripture into fragments. 91 Now by thy Lord, We shall surely question them all together 92 For all their deeds. 93 So shout that thou art commanded and turn thou away from the idolaters. 94 verily, We shall suffice thee against all who [now] deride [this message - all] 95 Those who adopt, with Allah, another god: but soon will they come to know. 96 We certainly know that their statements sorely grieve you. 97 But celebrate the praises of thy Lord, and be of those who prostrate themselves in adoration. 98 And worship thy Lord until there cometh unto thee the certainty. 99
