And the dwellers of Al Hijr also belied the Messengers. 80 We gave them Our signs, but they turned away from them. 81 They hewed their dwellings out of the mountains in safety. 82 But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning, 83 All that they had acquired was of no avail to them. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 Surely your Lord is the Creator of all things, the Knowing. 86 And We have bestowed upon thee the Seven Oft-repeated (verses) and the Grand Qur'an. 87 Strain not thine eyes toward that which We cause some wedded pairs among them to enjoin, and be not grieved on their account, and lower thy wing (in tenderness) for the believers. 88 And say thou: verily I! I am a plain warner. 89 Like as We sent down on the dividers 90 who have broken the Koran into parts, 91 So, by your Lord, We would most certainly question them all, 92 concerning what they have been doing. 93 Promulgate thou that which thou art commanded, and turn away from the associaters. 94 Indeed We suffice you against these mockers. 95 and believe other things to be equal to God. They will soon know the truth. 96 And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say; 97 So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him]. 98 And keep worshipping your Lord, till death* comes to you. (* The certainty.) 99
