He it is Who sends down water for you from the sky out of which you drink and out of which grow the plants on which you pasture your cattle, 10 He groweth for you thereby the corn and olives and date-palms and grapes and all kinds of fruit. Verily therein is a sign for a people who ponder. 11 And He has subjected to you the night and the day, the sun and the moon; and the stars are subjected by His Command. Surely, in this are proofs for people who understand. 12 And there are also Signs for those who take heed in the numerous things of various colours that He has created for you on earth. 13 And He it is who has made the sea subservient [to His laws,] so that you might eat fresh meat from it, and take from it gems which you may wear. And on that [very sea] one sees ships ploughing through the waves, so that you might [be able to] go forth in quest of some of His bounty, and thus have cause to be grateful [to Him]. 14 He has set up on the earth firm mountains, lest it shake under you, and rivers and tracks, so that you may find your way, 15 And landmarks; and they are guided by the star. 16 Is He then Who createth as him who createth not? Will ye not then remember? 17 If you count the favours of God you will not be able to calculate. Assuredly God is forgiving and kind. 18 Allah has knowledge of all that you hide and all that you reveal. 19 And those whom they call on besides Allah have not created anything while they are themselves created; 20 They are dead, not living; nor do they know when they will be raised to life. 21
