۞ God says: 'Take not to you two gods. He is only One God; so have awe of Me.' 51 And His is all that is in the heavens and on earth, and to Him [alone] obedience is always due: will you, then, pay reverence to aught but Him? 52 And whatever favor is (bestowed) on you it is from Allah; then when evil afflicts you, to Him do you cry for aid. 53 Yet when He has delivered you from affliction, some of you ascribe companions to your Lord 54 [as if] to prove their ingratitude for all that We have granted them! Enjoy, then, your [brief] life: but in time you will come to know [the truth]! 55 They set aside a portion of the food We have given them for those they do not know. By God, you will surely have to answer for all you contrive! 56 They assign daughters to Allah - glory be to Him - whereas they assign to themselves what they truly desire! 57 Yet when news of the birth of a daughter reaches one of them, his face is darkened, and he is overwhelmed with silent grief, 58 And hides from people for shame at the news, (at a loss) whether he should keep her with shame, or bury her in the ground. How bad is the judgement that they make! 59 To those who believe not in the Hereafter, applies the similitude of evil: to Allah applies the highest similitude: for He is the Exalted in Power, full of Wisdom. 60
