On the day when every soul will come pleading for itself, and every soul will be recompensed for what it had done, no one will be wronged. 111 God has struck a similitude: a city that was secure, at rest, its provision coming to it easefully from every place, then it was unthankful for the blessings of God; so God let it taste the garment of hunger and of fear, for the things that they were working. 112 A Messenger from their own people came to them and they called him a liar. Torment struck them because of their injustice. 113 Eat of the lawful and good things with which Allah has provided you and be thankful for the favors of Allah if it is He you worship. 114 He has forbidden you only Al-Maytatah (meat of a dead animal), blood, the flesh of swine, and any animal which is slaughtered as a sacrifice for others than Allah (or has been slaughtered for idols etc. or on which Allah's Name has not been mentioned while slaughtering). But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, and not transgressing, then, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. 115 And, for what your tongues describe, do not utter the lie, (saying) This is lawful and this is unlawful, in order to forge a lie against Allah; surely those who forge the lie against Allah shall not prosper. 116 (In such falsehood) is but a paltry profit; but they will have a most grievous Penalty. 117 And to those who are Jews We have prohibited that which We related to you before. And We did not wrong them [thereby], but they were wronging themselves. 118 Then, surely thy Lord -- unto those who did evil in ignorance, then repented after that and put things right -- surely thy Lord thereafter is All-forgiving, All-compassionate. 119
