The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Praise be to God who has sent down to His servant -- the Book, which is free from any ambiguity 1 [He has made it] straight, to warn of severe punishment from Him and to give good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a good reward 2 Staying in it for ever; 3 Further, that He may warn those (also) who say, "Allah hath begotten a son": 4 No knowledge have they of such a thing, nor had their fathers. It is a grievous thing that issues from their mouths as a saying what they say is nothing but falsehood! 5 Perhaps you will destroy yourself out of grief because they disbelieve this Book. 6 We have appointed all that is on the earth an adornment for it, in order that We try which of them is finest in works. 7 and We shall surely make all that is on it barren dust. 8 Deemest thou that the people of the cave and the inscription were of Our signs a wonder? 9 When those youths took refuge in the cave, they prayed: "O our Sustainer! Bestow on us grace from Thyself, and endow us, whatever our [outward] condition, with consciousness of what is right!" 10 So We cast [a cover of sleep] over their ears within the cave for a number of years. 11 Then roused them to ascertain which of the two groups could account for the period they had stayed. 12
