The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Praise be to Allah Who hath revealed the Scripture unto His slave, and hath not placed therein any crookedness, 1 and which rightly directs, to give warning of stern punishment from Him, and to proclaim to the believers who do righteous deeds that they shall have an excellent recompense, 2 They shall abide therein forever. 3 And to warn those who say, "God has taken to Himself a son." 4 They have no knowledge of this, nor did their forefathers have any either. What they say is monstrous: they are merely uttering falsehoods! 5 Yet perchance, if they believe not in this tiding, thou wilt consume thyself, following after them, of grief. 6 Lo! We have placed all that is on the earth as an ornament thereof that We may try them: which of them is best in conduct. 7 For We shall certainly turn it to barren dust. 8 Or dost thou think the Men of the Cave and Er-Rakeem were among Our signs a wonder? 9 When the young men fled for refuge to the Cave and said: Our Lord! Give us mercy from Thy presence, and shape for us right conduct in our plight. 10 So We cast [a cover of sleep] over their ears within the cave for a number of years. 11 Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. 12
