The Cave (Al-Kahf)

110 verses, revealed in Mecca after Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah) before The Bee (Al-nahl)

In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate

Praise be to Allah Who has revealed to His servant the Book devoid of all crookedness; 1 A just Book, to warn of Allah’s severe punishment, and to give glad tidings to the believers who do good deeds, that for them is an excellent reward. 2 therein to abide for ever, 3 And to warn those who say, "Allah has taken a son." 4 They have no knowledge of this, as their fathers did not have. How terrible are the words they utter! They speak nothing but lies. 5 Possibly you may risk your life by grieving (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) for them if they do not believe in this narration. 6 We have caused earthly things to seem attractive so that We can see who will excel in good deeds. 7 And indeed We shall one day make all that is on it a barren plain. 8 Do you think that the Men of the Cave and the Inscription were one of Our wondrous signs? 9 When those youths sought refuge in the Cave and said: "Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and provide for us rectitude in our affairs." 10 Then We caused them to fall into a deep sleep for many years inside the cave. 11 Afterwards. We raised them up again, that We might know which of the two parties would better calculate the while they had tarried. 12
