The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
ALL PRAISE is due to God, who has bestowed this divine writ from on high upon His servant, and has not allowed any deviousness to obscure its meaning: 1 Rightly directing, that he might give warning of severe punishment from Him and give good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a goodly reward, 2 wherein they shall remain forever, 3 And to warn those who say: Allah hath chosen a son, 4 They have no knowledge of this, nor did their forefathers have any either. What they say is monstrous: they are merely uttering falsehoods! 5 Perhaps you may destroy yourself with grief if they do not believe in this message. 6 Verily We have made whatsoever is on the earth as an adornment thereof, that We may prove them - which of them is best in work. 7 but We shall reduce all this to barren waste. 8 Or dost thou reflect that the Companions of the Cave and of the Inscription were wonders among Our Sign? 9 Recall what time the youths betook themselves to the cave, then said: our Lord! vouchsafe unto us mercy from before Thee, and prepare for us in our affair a right course. 10 Then We draw (a veil) over their ears, for a number of years, in the Cave, (so that they heard not): 11 Then We roused them, in order to test which of the two parties was best at calculating the term of years they had tarried! 12
