The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Praise belongs to God who has sent down upon His servant the Book and has not assigned unto it any crookedness; 1 A just Book, to warn of Allah’s severe punishment, and to give glad tidings to the believers who do good deeds, that for them is an excellent reward. 2 Where they will abide for ever; 3 and to warn those who say, 'God has taken to Himself a son'; 4 They have no knowledge of it, nor had their fathers. Grave is the word that comes out of their mouths; they speak not except a lie. 5 But wouldst thou, perhaps, torment thyself to death with grief over them if they are not willing to believe in this message? 6 Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them [as to] which of them is best in deed. 7 We will surely reduce all that is on it to barren dust. 8 Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription were one of Our wondrous signs? 9 When those youths sought refuge in the Cave and said: "Our Lord! Grant us mercy from Yourself and provide for us rectitude in our affairs." 10 So We prevented them from hearing in the cave for a number of years. 11 Then We raised them up (from their sleep), that We might test which of the two parties was best at calculating the time period that they had tarried. 12
