The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
(All) praise is due to Allah, Who revealed the Book to His servant and did not make in it any crookedness. 1 (He has made it) Straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise). 2 Where they will abide for ever; 3 And warn those who say: Allah has taken a son. 4 Neither they nor their fathers had any knowledge of such utterance (that God has begotten a son). Whatever they say about (this matter) is vicious blasphemy and plain lies. 5 Will you kill yourself for grief of them if they do not believe in this presentation? 6 We have caused earthly things to seem attractive so that We can see who will excel in good deeds. 7 Verily what is on earth we shall make but as dust and dry soil (without growth or herbage). 8 Or, do you think that the Fellows of the Cave and the Inscription were of Our wonderful signs? 9 Recall what time the youths betook themselves to the cave, then said: our Lord! vouchsafe unto us mercy from before Thee, and prepare for us in our affair a right course. 10 We sealed off their ears in the cave for a number of years, 11 Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. 12
