1/2 Hizb 30

۞ Set forth to them the parable of two men: for one of them We provided two gardens of grape-vines and surrounded them with date palms; in between the two We placed corn-fields. 32 each of the two gardens yielded its produce and failed naught in any wise; and We caused to gush amidst them a river. 33 so the owner had fruit in abundance and he said to his neighbour, while conversing with him: "I have greater wealth than you and I am stronger than you in numbers." 34 And he went into his garden, while he (thus) wronged himself. He said: I think not that all this will ever perish. 35 And neither do I think that the Last Hour will ever come. But even if [it should come, and] I am brought before my Sustainer, I will surely find something even better than this as [my last] resort!" 36 His comrade, when he (thus) spake with him, exclaimed: Disbelievest thou in Him Who created thee of dust, then of a drop (of seed), and then fashioned thee a man? 37 But as far as I am concerned, God alone is my Lord and I set up no partners with Him. 38 “And why was it not that you would have said when you entered your garden, ‘Whatever Allah wills we do not have any strength except with the help of Allah’ if you had observed me lesser than you in wealth and children.”? 39 Yet it may be that my Lord will give me better than thy garden, and will send on it a bolt from heaven, and some morning it will be a smooth hillside, 40 "Or the water of the garden will run off underground so that thou wilt never be able to find it." 41 And his fruits were surrounded he therefore remained helplessly wringing his hands upon all that he had spent on it and it lay fallen on its canopy and he says, “If only I had not ascribed any partner to my Lord!” 42 And he had no group of men to help him against Allah, nor could he defend or save himself. 43 Thereover protection belongs only to God the True; He is best rewarding, best in the issue. 44
