۞ And put forward to them the example of two men; unto one of them We had given two gardens of grapes, and We had surrounded both with date-palms; and had put between them green crops (cultivated fields etc.). 32 Each of the two gardens produced its fruit and did not fall short thereof in anything. And We caused to gush forth within them a river. 33 And he had fruit, so he said to his companion while he was conversing with him, "I am greater than you in wealth and mightier in [numbers of] men." 34 And he entered his garden while he was unjust to himself. He said: I do not think that this will ever perish 35 I do not think that the Hour is coming; and if I am indeed returned to my Lord, I shall surely find a better resort than this.' 36 His friend said to him, "How can you disbelieve in the One who turned clay into sperm out of which He created you? 37 But as for me, He is Allah, my Lord, and I do not associate with my Lord anyone. 38 When you entered your vineyard, why did you not say: 'Whatever Allah wills shall come to pass, for there is no power save with Allah!' If you find me less than yourself in wealth and children 39 Yet it may be that my Lord will give me better than thy garden, and will send on it a bolt from heaven, and some morning it will be a smooth hillside, 40 Or some morning the water thereof will be lost in the earth so that thou canst not make search for it. 41 And his vines were overtaken (with disaster), and he began to wring his hands (at the loss) of what he had spent on them, for the vines had fallen upon their trellises; and he said: "Would to God that I had not associated any one with my Lord." 42 He had no body to help him other than God, nor was he able to save himself. 43 The jurisdiction in this province belongs to God. His is the best reward, and His the best requital. 44
