۞ Give them the parable of two men. To one we gave two gardens of vines and surrounded them with palm trees and in between the two we placed a sown field. 32 Both the gardens gave yields and gave no shortfall in it – and We made a river to flow between the two. 33 So he became rich. Arguing one day with his friend he said: "I have more wealth than you and more powerful kinsmen." 34 And he entered his garden while he was unjust to himself. He said, "I do not think that this will perish - ever. 35 "And I think not the Hour will ever come, and if indeed I am brought back to my Lord, (on the Day of Resurrection), I surely shall find better than this when I return to Him." 36 His comrade, when he (thus) spake with him, exclaimed: Disbelievest thou in Him Who created thee of dust, then of a drop (of seed), and then fashioned thee a man? 37 As for myself, Allah alone is my Lord, and I associate none with my Lord in His Divinity. 38 When entering your garden, you should have said, "This is what God willed; All Power belongs to Him. Even if you consider me inferior to yourself in wealth and offspring, 39 "It may be that my Lord will give me something better than your garden, and will send on it Husban (torment, bolt, etc.) from the sky, then it will be a slippery earth. 40 or the water of your vineyard will be drained deep into the ground so that you will not be able to seek it out." 41 And [thus it happened:] his fruitful gardens were encompassed [by ruin,] and there he was, wringing his hands over all that he had spent on that which now lay waste, with its trellises caved in; and he could but say: "Oh, would that I had not attributed divine powers to any but my Sustainer!" 42 And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allah, nor could he defend himself. 43 that Day. Supremacy belongs only to Allah, the True. He is the best to reward and the best ending. 44
