So they both proceeded, till, when they embarked the ship, he (Khidr) scuttled it. Musa (Moses) said: "Have you scuttled it in order to drown its people? Verily, you have committed a thing "Imra" (a Munkar - evil, bad, dreadful thing)." 71 "Did I not tell you," he replied, "that you will not be able to bear with me?" 72 Musa said: take me not to task for what I forget, and impose not in my affair hardship. 73 So they departed; until, when they met a lad, he slew him. He said, 'What, hast thou slain a soul innocent, and that not to retaliate for a soul slain? Thou hast indeed done a horrible thing.' 74 ۞ 'Did I not tell you' he replied, 'that you would not be able to bear patiently with me' 75 [Moses] said, "If I should ask you about anything after this, then do not keep me as a companion. You have obtained from me an excuse." 76 So they went on until when they came to the people of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused to entertain them as guests. Then they found in it a wall which was on the point of falling, so he put it into a right state. (Musa) said: If you had pleased, you might certainly have taken a recompense for it. 77 He said: this shall be the parting between me and thee; now I shall declare unto thee the interpretation of that wherewith thou wast not able to have patience. 78 As for the boat, it belonged to (some) poor men who worked on the river and I wished that I should damage it, and there was behind them a king who seized every boat by force. 79 "And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared lest he should oppress them by rebellion and disbelief. 80 and we desired that their Lord should grant them another in his place, a son more upright and more tender hearted. 81 As for that wall, it belonged to two orphan boys of the city, and their treasure was buried under it. Their father was an upright man. So your Lord willed that on reaching the age of maturity they should dig out their treasure as a favour from their Lord. So, I did not do that of my own accord. This is the explanation of things you could not bear with patience." 82
