So they set out, but, when they got into a boat, the man made a hole in it. Moses exclaimed, "Have you made a hole in the boat to drown the people in it? You have indeed done a dreadful thing!" 71 He said, “Did I not say that you will never be able to patiently stay with me?” 72 [Musa (Moses)] said: "Call me not to account for what I forgot, and be not hard upon me for my affair (with you)." 73 Then the twain journeyed until when they met a boy, and he killed him. Musa said: hast thou slain a person innocent not in return for a person? Assuredly thou hast committed a thing formidable. 74 ۞ He responded, "Did I not tell you that you will not be able to remain patient with me?" 75 He said: If I ask you about anything after this, keep me not in your company; indeed you shall have (then) found an excuse in my case. 76 Then they proceeded: until, when they came to the inhabitants of a town, they asked them for food, but they refused them hospitality. They found there a wall on the point of falling down, but he set it up straight. (Moses) said: "If thou hadst wished, surely thou couldst have exacted some recompense for it!" 77 [Al-Khidh r] said, "This is parting between me and you. I will inform you of the interpretation of that about which you could not have patience. 78 As for the ship, it belonged to certain poor men, who toiled upon the sea; and I desired to damage it, for behind them there was a king who was seizing every ship by brutal force. 79 As for the youth, his parents were believers and we feared that he would trouble them by rebellion and denial of truth. 80 "So we intended that their Lord should change him for them for one better in righteousness and near to mercy. 81 And as for the wall, it belonged to two orphan boys in the city, and there was beneath it a treasure belonging to them, and their father was a righteous man; so your Lord desired that they should attain their maturity and take out their treasure, a mercy from your Lord, and I did not do it of my own accord. This is the significance of that with which you could not have patience. 82
