They will ask you about Dhu'l-Qarnayn. Say, "I will give you an account of him." 83 Verily, We established him in the earth, and We gave him the means of everything. 84 One (such) way he followed, 85 Until, when he reached the setting of the sun, he found it [as if] setting in a spring of dark mud, and he found near it a people. Allah said, "O Dhul-Qarnayn, either you punish [them] or else adopt among them [a way of] goodness." 86 He said: "We will chastise him who does wrong, whereafter he will be returned to his Lord and He will chastise him grievously. 87 but whoever believes and does good works shall have a good reward and We shall facilitate his matter by Our command." 88 Then he followed a way 89 until, when he reached the rising of the sun, he found it rising upon a people for whom We had not appointed any veil to shade them from it. 90 So (it was)! And We knew all about him (Dhul-Qarnain). 91 Then he followed still another path, 92 until he came between two mountains. He found beside them a people who could scarcely understand a word [of his language]. 93 They said: "O thou Two-Horned One! Behold, Gog and Magog" are spoiling this land. May we, then, pay unto thee a tribute on the understanding that thou wilt erect a barrier between us and them?" 94 He said: "That (wealth, authority and power) in which my Lord had established me is better (than your tribute). So help me with strength (of men), I will erect between you and them a barrier. 95 "Bring me blocks of iron." At length, when he had filled up the space between the two steep mountain-sides, He said, "Blow (with your bellows)" Then, when he had made it (red) as fire, he said: "Bring me, that I may pour over it, molten lead." 96 Therefore Yajuj and Majuj were neither able to surmount it, nor could they pierce it. 97 He said: 'This is a mercy from my Lord. But when my Lord's promise is come, He will make it dust. The promise of my Lord is true' 98 ۞ And on that day We will leave a part of them in conflict with another part, and the trumpet will be blown, so We will gather them all together; 99 And We shall bring hell in front of the disbelievers. 100 who have turned a blind eye to My reminder and a deaf ear to My warning. 101
