In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Kaf. Ha. Ya. 'Ayn. Sad. 1 A mention of the mercy of thy Lord unto His servant Zachariah. 2 when he called upon his Lord in secret, 3 He submitted, “O my Lord my bones have become weak and old age shines forth from my head, and O my Lord, I have never been disappointed in my prayer to you.” 4 And verily I fear my kindred after me, and my wife hath been barren; so bestow on me from before Thee an heir. 5 to be my heir and to be the heir [of the blessings] of the House of Jacob; and make him, O my Lord, acceptable to you." 6 [He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name." 7 He submitted, “My Lord how can I have a son whereas my wife is barren and I have reached infirmity due to old age?” 8 He answered: "So shall it be." Your Lord says: "It is easy for Me," and then added: "For beyond doubt, I created you earlier when you were nothing." 9 He said: my Lord appoint for me a sign. Allah said: thy sign is that thou shalt not speak unto mankind for three nights, while sound. 10 Thereupon Zechariah came out from the sanctuary and directed his people by gestures to extol His glory by day and by night. 11 We commanded John, Zachariah's son, to follow the guidance of the Lord with due steadfastness. We gave knowledge and wisdom to John during his childhood. 12 And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah 13 And dutiful to his parents, and he was not insolent, disobedient. 14 So Peace on him the day he was born the day that he dies and the day that he will be raised up to life (again)! 15

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
