Mary (Maryam)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Kaf. Ha'. Ya'. Ayn. Sad. 1 (This is) a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His slave Zakariya (Zachariah). 2 Recall what time he cried unto his Lord with a cry secret. 3 He said: My Lord! surely my bones are weakened and my head flares with hoariness, and, my Lord! I have never been unsuccessful in my prayer to Thee: 4 And verily I fear my kindred after me, and my wife hath been barren; so bestow on me from before Thee an heir. 5 who shall be my inheritor and the inheritor of the House of Jacob; and make him, my Lord, well-pleasing.' 6 [He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name." 7 He said, "Lord, how can I have a son? My wife is barren and I have reached an extremely old age". 8 (The angel) answered: "Thus will it be. Your Lord said: 'This is easy for Me; for when I brought you into being you were nothing.' 9 He said: my Lord appoint for me a sign. Allah said: thy sign is that thou shalt not speak unto mankind for three nights, while sound. 10 He therefore emerged upon his people from the mosque, and told them through gestures, “Keep proclaiming the Purity (of your Lord) morning and evening.” 11 [Allah] said, "O John, take the Scripture with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy 12 and tenderness [of heart] and purity. He was pious, 13 honoring his parents, being neither arrogant nor rebellious. 14 So Peace on him the day he was born, the day that he dies, and the day that he will be raised up to life (again)! 15
