In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Kaf Ha Ya Ain Sad 1 This is an account of your Lord's mercy bestowed upon His servant Zachariah, 2 when he called upon his Lord secretly 3 Saying: "My Lord! Indeed my bones have grown feeble, and grey hair has spread on my head, And I have never been unblest in my invocation to You, O my Lord! 4 I fear evil from my kinsmen after I am gone; and my wife is barren, so grant me an heir out of Your special grace, 5 who will be my heir and the heir of the family of Jacob. Lord, make him a person who will please you". 6 O Zakariyya! verily We give thee the glad tidings of a boy: his name shall be Yahya; We have not afore-time made his namesake. 7 He said: O my Lord! when shall I have a son, and my wife is barren, and I myself have reached indeed the extreme degree of old age? 8 He said: "So (it will be). Your Lord says; It is easy for Me. Certainly I have created you before, when you had been nothing!" 9 He said, “My Lord, give me a sign”; He said, “Your token is that you will not speak to people for three nights, although in proper health.” 10 Then he came forth to his people from the sanctuary, and he beckoned unto them. hallow your Lord morning and evening. 11 (We said:) "O John, hold fast to the Book;" and We gave him wisdom right from boyhood, 12 And tenderness from Us and purity, and he was one who guarded (against evil), 13 And dutiful toward his parents. And he was not arrogant, rebellious. 14 Peace be upon him on the day he was born and the day he dies, and on him the day when he is raised up alive. 15
