Also mention in the Book (the story of) Abraham: He was a man of Truth, a prophet. 41 when he spoke [thus] unto his father: "O my father! Why dost thou worship something that neither hears nor sees and can be of no avail whatever to thee? 42 O my father, to me has come such knowledge as never came to you. So follow me that I may show you the right path. 43 "O my father! Worship not Shaitan (Satan). Verily! Shaitan (Satan) has been a rebel against the Most Beneficent (Allah). 44 Father, indeed I fear lest a punishment from the Gracious One afflict you, and you become a friend of Satan." 45 [His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time." 46 He said: Peace be unto thee! I shall ask forgiveness of my Lord for thee. Lo! He was ever gracious unto me. 47 I will separate myself from you and from whatever you call upon besides God, and I will pray only to my Lord. It may well be that, in calling on my Lord, I will not be disappointed." 48 And after he had withdrawn from them and from all that they were worshipping instead of God, We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob, and made each of them a prophet; 49 And We gave them of Our mercy, and we made for them a reputation of high honor. 50
