And remember Ibrahim in the Book; he was very truthful, a Herald of the Hidden (a Prophet). 41 Behold, he said to his father: "O my father! why worship that which heareth not and seeth not, and can profit thee nothing? 42 Father, a knowledge that has not reached you has come to me. So follow me that I may guide you to a Straight Way. 43 O my father! Serve not the devil. Lo! the devil is a rebel unto the Beneficent. 44 Father, I am afraid that the Beneficent God's torment will strike you and you will become a friend of satan." 45 His father replied, "Abraham, are you telling me to give-up my gods? If you will not stop this, I shall stone you to death. Leave my house and do not come back again". 46 He said: Peace be unto thee! I shall ask forgiveness of my Lord for thee. Lo! He was ever gracious unto me. 47 "And I shall remain separated from you and all that you worship other than Allah and shall worship my Lord; possibly, by worshipping my Lord, I will not be amongst the unfortunate.” 48 Then when he had renounced them and that which they worshipped beside Allah, We bestowed on him Is'haq and Ya'qub and each one We made a prophet! 49 And We bestowed of Our Mercy on them, and We granted them lofty honour on the tongue of truth. 50
