Commemorate Abraham in the Book: He was upright, a prophet. 41 Recall what time he said unto his father: O my father! wherefore worshippest thou that which heareth not and seeth not, nor availeth thee at all? 42 Father, I have received the knowledge which has not been given to you. Follow me; I shall guide you to the right path. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 O my father! I dread lest a chastisement from the Most Gracious befall thee, and then thou wilt become [aware of having been] close unto Satan!" 45 But he replied: 'Do you shrink away from my gods, Abraham? Surely, if you do not cease I will stone you, so leave me for awhile' 46 He said, “Stop it – peace be upon you; I shall seek forgiveness for you from my Lord; indeed He is very kind to me.” 47 I shall withdraw from you and all that you call upon beside Allah. I shall only call upon my Lord. I trust the prayer to my Lord will not go unanswered." 48 So when he withdrew from them and what they worshipped besides Allah, We gave to him Ishaq and Yaqoub, and each one of them We made a prophet. 49 We granted them Our mercy and bestowed on them true and high renown. 50
