And make mention (O Muhammad) in the Scripture of Abraham. Lo! he was a saint, a prophet. 41 who asked his father, "Father, why do you worship something that can neither hear nor see nor help you at all? 42 Father, I have received the knowledge which has not been given to you. Follow me; I shall guide you to the right path. 43 "O my father! serve not Satan: for Satan is a rebel against (Allah) Most Gracious. 44 Father, I am afraid that the Beneficent God's torment will strike you and you will become a friend of satan." 45 He said: "Are you averse to my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I shall have you stoned to death. So go away for a while from me." 46 Abraham said, "Peace be with you. I shall ask my Lord to forgive you; He has been gracious to me. 47 "And I shall turn away from you and from those whom you invoke besides Allah. And I shall call on my Lord; and I hope that I shall not be unblest in my invocation to my Lord." 48 Thereupon Abraham dissociated himself from his people and the deities they worshipped instead of Allah, and We bestowed upon him Isaac and Jacob and made each of them a Prophet; 49 And We gave them Our mercy, and assigned for them a true and high repute. 50
